Heart Seer The Tale of Anise Star - Rowan Foxwood

Anise is a heartseer which means she can see and talk to deities and daemons. With her brother away in the Capital and her mother dead, Anise must fend for herself which she does alongside Wolf, a daemon dog she can talk to. However, as her brother's eighteenth birthday looms closer, Mr Babbitt announces that her brother won't be returning from the Capital and that Anise has become his ward.  As Mr Babbitt reveals his plans for Anise's house and the forest that surrounds it, she knows she has no choice but to fight to save it.  And so begins her journey to the Capital; one that is fraught with danger, but will she be manage to get to her brother before he turns eighteen?

I'm just going to say from the beginning that I gobbled this book up in one afternoon!  It's a wonderfully written story that entices you in and captivates you from the start.

Anise has no choice but to fend for herself but does so with care, respecting the balance of the forest and the creatures she shares it with.  I know she is somebody that readers will love from the second they meet her.  As the book progresses, you begin to learn how brave Anise really is and how much love she has for the forest in which she lives. She really is quite a force to be reckoned with!

Heartseer The Tale of Anise Star is a wonderful tale of family (in whatever form it takes), learning to appreciate what you have around you and standing up for your beliefs.  Perfect for fans of Sophie Anderson's books, Heartseer The Tale of Anise Star will make the perfect autumn read when it publishes in the 12th September.
